Form Type Description
1. Returns with a power of attorney currently in effect for the refund to be sent to a third party. 2. Returns claiming Maine Schedule A Credits, other than Credit for the Elderly, Child & Dependent Care Credit, Earned Income Credit and Maine Minimum Tax Credit.
3. Amended or corrected returns (even if the original return was filed electronically). Only one valid tax year 2004 electronic return can be filed by any taxpayer. 4. Returns requiring Maine forms or schedules not listed in the "Electronic Portion of Return" section. 5. Returns for tax years other than 2005.
6. Returns from any filer or any transmitter who has not applied and been accepted as an electronic filer. 7. Returns with cents entries. 8. Returns containing more than a total of 50 W-2/1099 series forms, in any combination
9. Filings that are duplicate to a paper filed return. 10. Fiscal year returns

State ME Amount Owe Payment Option
You have the following options to pay your tax:
  1. Pay by Direct Debit from bank account. You need to make sure your bank supports direct debit.


  2. Mail in a check.
    You need to attach Payment Voucher (Form 1040ME-PV )

State ME Overpayment Option
You have the following options:
  1. Apply your refund amount to next year's tax payment.
  2. Receive your refund by check through mail.
  3. Receive your refund by direct deposit to your bank account.


    1. Directly deposited into taxpayers' financial institution or NextGen account if the amount of refund is $5,000 or less. 2. Maine Revenue Services will make every attempt to effect a direct deposit. However, if a direct deposit cannot be properly completed, a paper check will be issued.
