Don’t be afraid to check, double check, even TRIPLE check your return for data entry errors. Believe it or not, the following fields on tax returns are commonly entered incorrectly:
First Name, Last Name, or Suffix (especially if the suffix on your name is a third-generation or higher) - Be sure to check this for you, your spouse, and all the dependents on your return.
Address - Make sure your house number, street, city, state, and zip are written correctly!
Social Security Number - Do NOT leave this field blank! Check to make sure all numbers are entered correctly for you, your spouse, and all the dependents on your return.
Date of birth - Check this for you, your spouse, and all the dependents on your return.
Numerical information from W-2s or other wage statements.
Bank information for refunds/tax liability payments.
