There’s six months to go until filing season. It’s never too early to organize your tax documents and get everything ready for the filing rush. Taxes are something to consider ALL year long. You can make the biggest impact on the time you spend filing by being meticulously organized throughout the year.
Technology is your biggest helped here. Upload your statements, invoices and receipts to your own personal cloud storage. You can even e-mail links to your cloud-stored tax documents folder to your Tax Preparer to make it easier on them during the season.
If you don’t want to use the cloud to store your documents, make sure you organize your files so you can find documents quickly. Group documents by tax year and type (ex. 2014 Mortgage Interest Pay Statements).
